Alzheimer’s Association
Happy New Year! I’m Kelly Wright, the Development Manager for the Alzheimer’s Association. I just started this past Monday and I’m looking at ways to educate our communities regarding our resources, out reach, organizing volunteers and of course fundraising. As part of fundraising, I try to look at activities that help keep the mind active and after trying to learn knitting over the holidays, I thought quilting would also be a wonderful activity/hobby that could also benefit our organization. Typically every year, quilters from all over the nation donate quilts that can be auctioned off with the proceeds benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association. I’m reaching out to your organization with the hopes of partnering on a quilt auction to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association-Wyoming Chapter. Currently we have approximately 10,000 Wyoming-ites inflicted with this horrific disease, and there are over 33,000 unpaid family and community caretakers. Alzheimer’s kills more people then breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. Would you be so kind an reach out to me. My hope is to have a quilt from each corner of the state and Casper. We do have an event in June that would work perfect for this or we can do it any time of the year. I look forward to hearing from you!   www.alz.org
