Learn how to master flying geese units and create the unique geese in the bands.

Participants in the class will use wool applique pieces on cotton fabric. First we will prepare the cotton background and wool for the applique process. Then we will use hand embroidery stitches and beads to embellish the pattern.  A variety of sewing and embroidery techniques, using a variety of threads, needles, and beads, will be used to produce a fun wall hanging.

My Original quilt was made in 1994. I have since made it as a dog, bunny, kitty and other animals to delight the child in all of us. The original quilt uses scraps of plaid fabric, but florals and prints look just as charming. You could even mix it all up and make it a barnyard quilt. How about adding a fence? The process is the same, you are the artist. The eyes are buttons and the tail and mane are embroidery floss. Let your imagination soar.  Depending on your determination and drive, you could get a couple of animals completed in class and some of your 5″ sashing strips. The size of finished quilt is 44” x 52”  Look at old coloring books and old patterns to locate other animals if you don’t want to do horses.  I will bring animal pictures with me also.

Creating simple waves with fabric manipulation gives great dimension to the tote, 21” x 26”.  It also has a well-stabilized pocket inside as well as a zipper pocket.
