I had a lot of fun using jungle prints to make this quilt. This design will work with any mix of light and dark fabrics. In class you will have several other pattern  options available that use this same technique. Patterns include templates for the curvy cuts (no speciality rulers needed) and in class you will also learn to do freeform curve cutting The fabric requirements for this quilt include the necessary yardage as well as the total number of squares needed, if you instead choose to work from your stash. Fractured Images is a strip cutting, straight seam sewing technique that results in an altered view of the original fabric design (think of looking through a kaleidoscope on steroids). Traditional quilting methods result in an art quilt. Each piece is a unique masterpiece that can become a wall hanging, table centerpiece, or the beginning of a quilt where the fractured Image becomes the center. This class introduces the art of fracturing fabric by using four identical repeats of fabric or four identical panels. After cutting and labeling strips, the fabric will be sewn using straight 1/8″ seams.

A trunk show of nature art quilts will put you in the mood for this enchanting, inspired class. We will start with a provided 20” hand dyed background piece of fabric, and with finesse you will be designing your own creation. Add provided pieces of nature, whether it be feathers, corn silk, pebbles, pinecones, bark, threads, grasses and leaves to make this quilt come alive. You may bring your own items to add to your quilt. Top this off with a piece of tulle and a jute binding. You will have your own original piece of art for your wall.
