16. Lyric Montgomery-Kinard – Surface Design Sample

Can’t choose which surface design technique you most want to learn? Try a taste of each! Make a small art quilt or book cover while gleefully playing with paint. Let Lyric bring everything you need so that you can simply play and learn a variety of new techniques to add to your tool kit. Techniques include the application of foil to fabric, photo transfer, screen printing with Thermofax screens, stenciling, stamp carving, and beading. With playful support and gentle encouragement, Lyric will help you find the confident creativity that she knows you possess.

Enjoy a day with Laura Heine. Dive into this Teeny Tiny Group collage quilt. Laura will show you how she has mastered collage to ensure the project turns out flawless. Learn her techniques and tips! Students will learn about color and value, not even realizing that they are learning! Work with different scales of fabric. Turn them into a one-of-a-kind quilt!

REQUIRED: $25.00 Pattern (all 3 designs, Pincushion, Dress Form and Sewing Machine designs are full sized in the pattern and each finishes at 16″ x 20″. General collage directions and color photos with step-by-step instructions are included.

This fun table topper brings cuteness to a new level. It’s wool appliqué on a cotton background. Add decorative stitches and scrappy borders to compete this adorable project. There is an optional kit that includes everything except the border fabrics, or you can purchase just the cotton background fabric and use your own wool and perle cotton threads. You also have the option to bring everything from your own stash. Templates will be available for use in class.

2-DAY CLASS

Combine your love of a favorite panel with the unique look of the one block wonder hexagons. Seven panels will be needed. You cut six panels and then arrange your remaining panel for a fun and unique look.

This cute, fun and easy wall hanging combines piecing and appliqué techniques. Goes together quickly and brightens up any room. Precutting and tracing is recommended to complete the top in class.

This class will teach you a quick and easy way to make a simple bargello runner or a bargello quilt.

23. Connie Dilts – Wool Quilt Shop – Small Wall Hanging
Skill Level: All

Learn the basic techniques for hand sewing wool appliqué, including the use of freezer paper, tips when using small wool pieces, using a variety of threads and needles, basic embroidery stitches, the use of beads and finishing techniques. This project will be near completion at the end of class.
REQUIRED: $14.00 Material fee (Includes pattern, some threads needles, Glad Press and Seal and other hand sewing supplies. Payable in class.
OPTIONAL: $15.00 Kit, instead of bringing your own wool, some threads and other hand sewing supplies. Partial kits are also available if requested.

24. Jennifer Golden – Polypropylene Bowl
Skill Level: All

The bowls and baskets that we will make are created from boat rope using simple coiling methods and zig-zag stitching. If you join me for this class it will be fun and relaxing. We will create several bowls with individual design and color. NO HOMEWORK…Bring your favorite 3/8″ polypropylene rope and have a great time!

25. Daenette More – Whirly Blooms
Skill Level: Intermediate

Learn three of Gerri Robinson’s favorite quilting elements (flying geese, square-in-a-square, and triangle-in-a-square) to make a fun and happy quilt. Whirly Blooms was designed as a two-color quilt but makes a lovely scrappy quilt. This is a repeating one-block pattern. Techniques: Flying geese, square-in-a-square and triangle-in-a-square.

26. Machelle Preston – Cherry Wreath
Skill Level: Confident Beginner

The Cherry Wreath pattern is fun, especially using red, white and blue fabrics. Two different methods of appliqué will be taught, machine appliqué and the Applipops method.

27. Katie Rapp – Totally Tubular
Skill Level: All

Totally Tubular is a technique class. Students will learn a method of making half-square triangles. This technique will help students use the precut jelly rolls that we all love. We will let our creativity fly and arrange pieces in endless combinations. You will leave this class confident and inspired to perhaps design a quilt or two of your own!

28. Lauren Rogers – Blue Moon Placemats
Skill Level: All

Learn how to get started with a Quiltworx/Judy Niemeyer design. Start small and see how the pattern is organized. You’ll soon be ready to move on to bigger quilt patterns. I’ll share all the tips and tricks that I have learned over the time that I have been a certified instructor/shop. You’ll realize how easy paper piecing can be.
