18.  John Flynn – Super Nova
Skill Level:  Intermediate

An original variation of the Wheel of Mystery, this is an exciting project to work on and to admire later.  The block is a diamond and has some curved seams so students can improve their curved piecing skills.

19.  Linda Hahn – Roxbury Rainbow
Skill Level:   Confident Beginner

A new twist on Linda’s technique for quickly and easily making New York Beauty blocks.  This entire block is pieced – no applique.  Students love Linda’s method for foundation piecing the arcs.  You’ll have this dynamic design stitched up lickety split!

This design has “split backgrounds” (two colors) that require a bit more (though not much) precision piecing.  Linda makes it a breeze!

Required Kit – $28.00 includes re-useable paper piecing stencil, custom acrylic templates and foundation paper (that can be left in the quilt).

20.  Lea McComas – Introduction to Thread Painting
Skill Level: Confident Beginner

Try this technique without committing to a major project. Participants will complete a series of small exercises to learn skills in isolation, and then combine them in more intricate compositions. We will begin with basic exercises for drawing, filling, and blending, before moving on to creating texture, contour, and depth. Skills learned in this workshop can be applied to a variety of pictorial and abstract projects.  This workshop also includes information on threads, stabilizers, and needles.
$5 Required kit fee payable to the instructor at the workshop.

21. Micki Chappalear – Long Arm Lap Quilt

Students will make a lap quilt, pieced, quilted and bound on the longarm. This class is super fun .  Students will leave with an almost-finished project.

22.  Marianne Ballash – Sparkle
Skill Level:  All

The Sparkle Quilt combines the Rambler Block and the V-Chain Block.  The quilt was designed by Michelle Renee Hiatt from Sew on the Go. You will love Michelle’s detailed and well-organized instructions.  The pattern makes fabulous use of Fat Quarters.  Learn process improvement techniques and simplify your piecing while increasing precision and accuracy. Wherever you are in your quilting journey, this class will be fun.  Come try out some new tools and practice cutting and pressing techniques for more perfect patchwork.  Make a couple of quilt blocks or finish a complete quilt.  Choose to purchase a kit featuring a beautiful color palette or bring your favorite collection of FQs and a high contrast background.  The Throw size quilt is 56”x56” and the Twin is 68”x92”.  We will have fun sewing together and making a quilt you will love.  All supplies can be pre-ordered on our website or picked up in class.

23.  Kathleen Moorhead Johnson – Falling Stars – THIS CLASS HAS BEEN CANCELED

Three large star-in-a-star blocks are featured in this quilt.  It is easier than it looks!  There are lots of four-patch blocks so sewing is not difficult.  No special rulers are needed.  Finished size 79″x91″ or 83″x95″.

24. Daenette More – Spangled

Skill Level:  Beginner

This wonderful pattern uses nothing but 2 ½” strips and borders.  Strips come alive with this simple, yet striking design.  Use batik, floral or Asian prints for a striking quilt.  You can even use a jelly roll for the background. There are five finished size options.  The quilt uses techniques of diagonal lines and a flip-and-sew method. Finished size is 76″x76″.

26. Rose French – Hand Applique
Skill Level:  Advanced Beginner

Back-basting applique, sometimes referred to as template-free-appliqué will be taught in this class.  This method is more accurate than needle turn, less cumbersome than traditional Hawaiin applique and does not require a template or veil, freezer paper, starch, glue or an iron.  This 18″ square block is from the pattern “Sarah’s Revival” by Sue Garman. 27. Lauren Rogers – Topsy Twosy

This small wallhanging/tabletopper is approximately 33” x 47”.  This design uses a fun ruler called the X-Blocks. After this initial class, you will be able to make this same design in different sizes with different sized rulers. We are making the smaller size. I will have samples of the larger quilts. This pattern has a big bonus — you can actually get most of a second quilt out of the leftovers. Join us to learn a fun design with lots of other pattern options available!

28. Connie Dilts – Standing Wool Flowers – THIS CLASS HAS BEEN CANCELED
Skill Level:  Intermediate – Advanced Hand Sewing

Handwork using wool fabrics can be fun, creative, and relaxing. This class will modernize an old handwork art form (standing and shirring wool) to make a small wall hanging. The project will incorporate several easy standing wool variations including coiling, and pleating. Participants can use the pattern outline provided or adapt it to make their own bouquet of flowers. The finished size is 8” x 14”

Learn how to do routine care and maintenance on your Featherweight sewing machine. Bring your working machine to class to clean, lube and adjust. We will cover proper threading, bobbin winding, tension adjustments, oiling moving parts, lubrication of gears and motor, belt adjustment or replacement, light bulb replacement, and proper sewing tips and techniques.
